Viña del Mar is, without a doubt, the capital of tourism in Chile. The garden city has beautiful green areas and four kilometers of beaches suitable for swimming. Some of its attractions are the Quinta Vergara, the Sausalito Lagoon, the Sporting Club and the Botanical Garden, to which is added a varied offer of tourist and urban services. With a picturesque architecture of residential neighborhoods and modern buildings located on San Martín Avenue, Viña del Mar is full of charm and is the venue for the Song Festival that brings together artists of national and international renown every year. In today’s article we will be mentioning some of the hidden paradises in Viña del Mar that you should know if you are passing through that city.
The Flower Clock
Another very interesting place is the Flower Clock, in this case located in Viña del Mar.
It has a Swiss mechanism and the truth is that it looks a lot like the Geneva Flower Clock
It is one of the beautiful attractions and perhaps one of the most photographed in the city. It is located at the foot of Cerro Castillo, a short distance from Playa Caleta Abarca. The Viña del Mar Flower Clock was brought from Switzerland
Reñaca Beach, the coolest area to visit in Viña del Mar
Playa de Reñaca is one of the coolest and most exclusive areas in the entire metropolitan area.
In fact, it shows a lot. There are many blocks of flats on the hills that are quite luxurious. According to what they told us, this beach is the preferred area for families from Santiago to spend the summer.
Reñaca is a town for both adults and children, during the day you can enjoy its beaches and the various activities that take place there both in and out of the water; and at night you will enjoy the clubs, all these activities will be accompanied by excellent food.
The Ocean Rock
La Roca Oceánica is located north of Viña del Mar, It is a very very cool area of rocks. There are lots of little trails to go around the rocks and take photos of the Pacific Ocean . We recommend it 200%.
In the rocks near the Oceanic Rock it is common to find Humboldt penguins and sea lions, either resting or fishing.
In 1990, the Oceanic Rock was declared a Nature Sanctuary, as it constitutes an area of great geological, ecological and marine biological value.
The Fonck Museum, in Viña del Mar
The next place you cannot miss is the Fonck Museum.
Not the museum itself, but the moai that they have at the entrance (it is free to visit).
It is, together with the one found in the British Museum in London, the only figure outside of Easter Island. In this case, it was brought by the Chilean Navy in the middle of the 20th century and has been in Viña for more than 70 years, despite the continuous efforts of the Rapa Nui Community to recover it.
