ITINERARY DESCRIPTION

DAY 1: Baltra Airport - Highlands on Santa Cruz Island

The plane lands at the Baltra Island airport, where they will be received by the staff who will help with the bags and the journey from the airport to the hotel. Then you take a bus to the Itabaca Canal, located between Baltra and Santa Cruz Islands; then you take a ferry that sails to Santa Cruz Island.

Once on the island, we take the vehicle that will take us together with our naturalist guide to our first visit site called “Los Gemelos” to the “El Manzanillo” ranch, a place where they will receive us with drinks for a short tour in which We will observe the giant tortoises in their natural habitat to finally finish our tour of the day in the selected lodging.

DAY 2: FULL DAY BARTOLOME + SULLIVAN BAY

Between 6:30 am and 7:30 am the vehicle picks you up at the hotel door, to cross the island from south to north until you reach the Itabaca Canal, where we board the boat. You navigate for approximately 2 hours, during which time the guides give orientation and safety talks. Entering Bartolomé the waters become clearer turquoise, revealing the sandy bottom with scattered rocks. The boat goes to its anchorage place, and then, in the company of the guide, go down to Bartolomé Island.

MAIN CHARACTERISTICS OF BARTOLOME

  • Bartolomé is a volcanic islet off the east coast of Santiago Island.
  • The island offers some of the most beautiful landscapes in the archipelago.
  • It has a volcanic cone that is easy to climb and offers excellent views of the other islands.
  • The Pinnacle Rock is the distinctive feature of this island, and the most representative monument of the Galapagos.
  • The 360 degree view from the highest part of Bartolomé Island is truly spectacular. The highest part that is visited on this island is approximately 115 meters above sea level, the tour is done along a 795-meter path of steps (360+ steps) and that has one of the most spectacular views and landscapes. spectacular views of the Galapagos Islands, where you have a beautiful panoramic view of the surrounding islands and on a clear day even of others further away such as Marchena and La Pinta.
  • From the highest part and towards the east, you can see splash-type cones, formed by thick lava drops. These cones are known as Parasite Cones since they were not formed by action of the main event.
  • To the west we find tuff cones (formed from sedimented volcanic ash) and eroded remains. The most representative Pinnacle of the Galapagos Islands and especially of this Island is a tuff cone. The main attraction of La Isla Bartolomé is the geological interpretation of the formation of the Galapagos Islands that can occur on this site.
  • In the visiting area there are two beaches and they are linked by a path. On the south beach you can take walks with the possibility of observing rays and blue sharks (endemic Galapagos shark) from the shore, so activities such as swimming or snorkelling are prohibited on this beach.
  • In contrast to the south beach, on the north beach you can do surface diving (snorkelling), during most of the year the sea is very calm which helps to carry out activities such as swimming.
  • At certain times of the year you can see very easily from pangas to some penguins (Spheniscus mendiculus) fishing near the beach. There is a small colony of penguins on this island that nest in the bay.

DAY 3: Isabela Island – Tour to the Water Tunnels

This day a trip awaits us that will surely be wonderful! Between 6 am – 6:20 am a vehicle will pick you up that will take you to the main pier “Gus Angermeyer” where the boat that will take you to Isabela Island awaits you. This trip begins at 7 am, which is why they must be at the dock 30 minutes before to carry out the respective controls and records. The trip takes approximately 2 hours. Upon arrival at Isabela Island, a vehicle will pick you up at the selected hotel, which will take you to the boat that will provide the tour to “Los Túneles”.

The tour to Cabo Rosa, better known as “Los Túneles” on Isabela Island, lasts approximately 1 hour and a half to 2 hours. Once in this sector, the boat will go through the different paths through the tunnels where you can clearly see the landscape that is the highlight of this site. The tour begins at approximately 11:30 AM in which we first head to Roca Unión, a small islet located in the open sea where you can see Pelicans, Nazca Boobies and Blue Footed Boobies and one or another sea lion resting on the rocks. After this short stop, you navigate for about 45 minutes to reach one of the most beautiful landscapes of rocky lava formations in the Galapagos Islands, it is called “Los Túneles” since in ancient eruptions, lava passed under The earth formed tunnels that later collapsed and gave rise to these arches over the water where you can clearly see vegetation coming out of the rocks, the crystalline water, the sea lions fluttering between the arches. Later, we moved to the site known as Finados to snorkel with sea turtles, “Tintoreras” sharks, golden rays, eagle rays, seahorses, fish such as Surgeons, Damicelas,. The tour includes a light box lunch on the boat after having completed the two activities, after lunch we prepare to return to Isabela at about 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

DAY 4: Isabela Island - Sierra Negra Volcano

As every day, breakfast is served between 6:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. After that, they will pick you up at the hotel and transfer you by vehicle to the entrance control point to the Sierra Negra volcano. We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes, a waterproof poncho, a jacket, sun protection, a water bottle, a sun hat, and storing any electronics in bags in case of rain. The 12 km walk takes around 3 hours. The walk is done along a path of medium difficulty with a slight slope. The Sierra Negra Volcano has the second largest crater in the world, at approximately 6 miles in diameter and 300 feet deep and makes for one of the most spectacular sights in the Galapagos. The hike continues to Volcán Chico. You can feel the hot earth as we get closer, since this is an active volcano. The panoramic view from this place is wonderful. In the afternoon we return to the hotel.

The return is scheduled for 12 pm to be able to serve us a delicious lunch prepared with local products.

The rest of the afternoon is free to relax and rest on one of the most beautiful beaches in the entire archipelago.

DAY 5: FREE DAY – Bahia Tour

a) Free Day: Enjoy the town, resting to your liking! It is recommended to visit iconic places in Puerto Ayora such as Tourtuga Bay, Charles Darwin Research Station, Laguna de las Ninfas, Las Grietas; or enjoy the varied and excellent gastronomy of Santa Cruz!

b) Tour of Bahía: Half-day tour (9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) in which you will visit several interesting and beautiful points of “Bahía Academia” such as La Lobería, Canal de las Tintoreras, Playa de los Perros and Las Grietas.

DAY 6: Free morning – Airport and farewell

As usual breakfast is served from 6:00 am to 8:00 am. Y

ou have about 3 hours to tour the town and buy souvenirs.

After this we return to the hotel where at 10:00* we pick up the vehicle that will take us to the Itabaca channel in order to reach the Baltra Airport.

Important: The transfer to the airport is a coordinated element according to the passenger’s requirements, this means that it strictly depends on the departure time of the flight.

Rates

They are per person in double, triple or quadruple occupancy. Rates for children and infants apply in a shared room with parents.

Flights

It is preferable that the arrival flight to Baltra is at 09:30 am. and the exit after 11:00 to carry out the planned visits.

BAGGAGE POLICIES

Per person a 20 kg suitcase + 1 6 kg hand luggage if your trip is to the Galapagos.

PAYMENT POLICIES

INITIAL DEPOSIT: A payment of 50% of the value per person must be made within 96 hours of confirming the space, it constitutes a guarantee for blocking the reservation.

FULL PAYMENT: Full payment for the trip must be made 30 days prior to trip departure. If there is a breach of these times, the reservation will be eliminated, only in special cases can extensions be accepted. In case of making the reservation within 15 days prior to departure, the service must be paid in full.

TRIP CANCELLATION POLICY

  • In case of canceling the reservation, the initial payment will not be refunded in any case.
  • If the passenger cancels the reservation without having started the trip, he will be subject to penalties such as:

From 91 days or more before the provision of the service, the initial payment is charged.

From 90 to 61 days before the provision of the service, 50% of the total value is charged.

From 60 to 31 days before the provision of the service, 80% of the total value is charged.

Cancellations made between 30 days before the provision of the service will be charged 100% OF THE TOTAL VALUE In the event that the passenger has problems of a legal nature, for migratory reasons or force majeure that makes it impossible to show up on the day of the trip, it will be considered a NO SHOW, so it is subject to 100% penalty and there is no refund.
