TREKKING AND CLIMBING TO THE VOLCANO’S AVENUE

TOUR DESCRIPTION

 This awesome trekking and climbing adventure is designed to take as to the most beautiful areas o the Ecuadorian Andes. We climb three mountains over five thousand meters including the highest Chimborazo (6267 m.a.s.l) we hike around beautiful crater lakes, visit the ice mine of the amazing ice merchants of Chimborazo, we lodge on beautiful historical haciendas and cozy mountain shelters. ITINERARY

Arrive to Quito and transfer to the hotel. Dinner and lodge hotel Cultura Manor.
Drive to the middle of the world, visit the Inca Ñan museum. We hike into Pululahua’ s crater (3hours) lunch on the Crater restaurant. Drive back to Quito and visit the colonial center. Dinner and lodge at Cultura Manor hotel.
Drive north from Quito towards the Imbabura’ s province. Hike around the Cuicocha lake (5 hours) picnic lunch during the hike. Afternoon visit to the Otavalo s market. Dinner and lodge in Hacienda Los Molino’s de San Juan.
We drive around Quito towards the south, we reach Pasochoa (4300m.a.s.l) a beautiful collapsed volcano declared a protected forest. It takes six hours to climb to the summit. Picnic lunch on the mountain. Back to the beginning of the hike and drive to Alegria’ s hacienda for dinner and lodge in the hacienda.
Drive to Baños (3 hours) Short hike to El Pailon del Diablo waterfall. Lunch in Miramelindo restaurant in Rio Verde. Free afternoon in Baños to enjoy this cozy town. Dinner and lodge in Hosteria Luna Volcan.
Today we begin the two day climb to the first five thousander Tungurahua (5026 m.a.s.l). We drive to Pondoa to enter Sangay’s National Park. We hike four hours thru a lush cloud forest to the climber s shelter (3800 m.a.s.l) Free afternoon to rest and enjoy the surroundings. Dinner and lodge at the shelter.
We begin climbing by 4:00 a.m and takes six hours to reach the crater and then the summit that is thirty minutes away. The way down to the shelter and then the entrance of the park is four hours. Back to Baños for dinner and lodge in Luna Volcan.
Today we drive back to Cotopaxi’s province, Quilotoa is a beautiful crater lake located at 3800 meters altitude, we begin the five-hour hike around the crater’s rim. Picnic lunch on the way. Dinner and lodge in Chuquirahuas hotel.
We drive to Cotopaxi s National Park to begin the two day climb to one of the highest active volcanos in earth. Lunch in Tambopaxi climber’s lodge. Afternoon optional hike to the Quitu Cara culture ruins. Dinner and lodge in Tambopaxi.
Morning drive and hike to the Jose Rivas mountain climber’s shelter (4835 meters altitude) picnic lunch on the mountain. Afternoon hike to a glacier for glacier school practices. Early dinner and lodge in the shelter.
Today we climb this amazing active volcano, we begin on midnight of the ten day and takes six to seven hours to the summit and crater rim, after the respective pictures we walk down to the shelter and vehicle to drive to Urcu Huasi a cozy shelter located on the east face of mighty Chimborazo to continue with our acclimatization process. Dinner and lodge in Urcu Huasi.
We drive to the beginning of the hike to the ice merchant’s mine three hours of hiking takes as to 4800 meters altitude to witness the amazing work of this special breed of people that extract the gelid merchandise to sale it on Riobamba’s markets. We hike down to the vehicle and drive back to Urcu Huasi for dinner and lodge.
Today we start the two day climb to Chimborazo the highest volcano in Ecuador and the closest point to the sun in earth. Morning visit to a native market, lunch in Chacana’s restaurant. Drive to the mountain climbers shelter located on the west face of the volcano (4830 m.a.s.l) we hike to high camp (5300 m.a.s.l). Early dinner and lodge at the high camp.
Today beginning at midnight of the thirteen day we begin the eight hours climb to the summit of this beautiful mountain which is the closest point to the sun in earth. Chimborazo (6267 m.a.s.l) After the respective pictures we start the hike down to the high camp and the shelter. We drive to Andaluza’s hacienda for dinner and lodge.
After breakfast we drive back to Quito.
